5 Reasons Why Your Company Needs A Blog

Should your company start a blog?

This question is a tough nut to crack. You might not need to fork out a cent but maintaining a blog can be enough to cause a nightmare.

Either companies rather not think about it or they just don’t see the true benefits of owning one.

If the latter is the case, these 5 reasons should help clear some fog and get you the much needed nudge to start one.

1. It keeps your customers updated

A blog is a great way to keep your customers updated. Every time you have an improved feature or a new product launch, a blog post can help to clarify all the “what, why, when, where and how” questions. Most importantly, don’t just talk about your product, people love to hear stories from within your company too. In other words, a blog will also help customers understand your company better.

2. It keeps your staff updated

If you’re running a large company, a blog can help keep your staff updated. Training schedule and internal company news can be released through an internal blog post. Emails are great but isn’t writing a blog post a much simpler method?

Remember to separate your internal company blog from the external (public) one. Some things are confidential or should just be kept private.

3. It improves your web traffic

A blog integrated within your corporate website can help improve your overall web traffic. People who visit your blog are likely to visit your ‘product page’, or at the very least, your ‘about us’ page as well. This increases sales probability.

4. It establishes your company as an industry leader

Majority of the people search online content through a search engine. If someone needs a solution to reduce weight, the first link that appears from the search engine is likely to be clicked and recognized as a quality source of information (since the search engine ranked it 1st).

Likewise, through blogging, you too can provide solutions and tips for your potential customers. In the long run, if your posts provide great content, your company will certainly gain credibility along the way.

5. It is a good start to social media engagement

A blog is a useful tool to start your social media marketing campaign. It gives you the content to communicate with the outside world using other social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Check out our KISS strategy to gain some other insights!

Why Having a Business Blog is Important

A business blog is a must for every business;
whether you have a website for your business, your
business is a brick and mortar only or if your
business is only on the Internet.

If you are in any type of business at all, you
need a business blog.

Blogging has become the way to drive new traffic
to your business, whether the business is on the
Internet or in a building. This is because people
connect personally to you through your blog, even
if it is a business blog.

Through writing blog posts your readers,
subscribers and customers get to know a little bit
about the person behind the business. And as long
as you’re posting quality, trustworthy content
your readers will come to trust you.

Therefore, they will then begin to purchase your
products or retain services that you offer.

Your business blog should reveal a little about
the person behind the business, but it should
never be too personal. Having an “About” page on
your blog is a good place to display a little
about your personal life, but not too much.

Keep it professional, but let your audience know
who you are as a business person. The “About”
page is also a great place to display your
qualifications, merits and credentials for your
business.

Once your business blog is up and running, you
will then use it to connect with people on the
Internet through stories, talking about
promotions or sales, and letting the public
know your business exists.

Having a business blog is the most important
marketing tool your business should have. If you
don’t have a business blog yet, and don’t even
know where to begin, hire a virtual assistant to
start one for you.

A VA could even then maintain and manage it for
you if you feel you don’t have the time. But, by
doing whatever it takes to get a business blog
started now, soon you will see an increase in
your business traffic and more traffic means
more sales.

Market Your Blog with Social Networking

Social network marketing is becoming the way to market
in this day and age of the Internet. With the Internet,
businesses are able to reach people throughout the world
with their products and services and social networking
is the key to reaching more and more people.

If you are not familiar with social networking on the
Internet, here is a little explanation. Social
networking is basically interacting with other people
on the Internet through various sites and platforms.

How to make social networking work for you consists of
a few key elements. When you incorporate them into your
business marketing plan your business traffic will
increase and more traffic means more sales.

First of all, you need to know which social networks are
popular and join them. Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Delicious
and Stumble Upon are all huge right now with millions of
members each from all over the world.

Obviously you don’t want to, and won’t be able to, reach
all of them, so you will want to target specific groups
or persons; basically you want to reach all of the people
who are going to be interested in what you have to sell
or offer. Which brings me to my next point.

Next you will need to know your target market. Is your
target market work at home moms, men, women, single
people, mother’s, dad’s, etc? Once you know your target
market, begin connecting with them by adding them as a
friend or follower.

It helps to know one person in your target market who is
already a member of the social network to introduce you
to new people in your niche.

One thing you will find about social networks is there
are millions of people. You will get people adding you
that will never buy from you or become regular readers
of yours, but they may be a friend or follower of someone
else who will.

But don’t add people simply to have a huge number of
friends or followers. If that is your goal, then that is
all you will have. The idea is to build relationships
with these friends and followers so they get to know you
and trust you and then perhaps they will become regular
subscribers to your business blog.

Is Your Blog Building Your Mailing List

A mailing list for your blog is one of the
best kept secrets of blogging. These people
who have subscribed to your blog to recieve
your newsletter or promotional emails.

You should have a form or squeeze page on the
front of your blog for readers to
subscribe to your mailing list. There are all
types of different plug-ins to choose for
all types of blog platform.

It may take time to build your blog subscriber
list. If you only have one subscriber to your
newsletter be sure to send them information
that will benefit them and not just for
the sake of sending an email.

You need to keep in touch with your subscribers
so they will keep coming back to your site over
and over again. Be sure that the content you send
them is packed full of useful information that
will help them.

When getting people to sign up for your newsletter
on your blog it is a good idea to offer them
something for free. If you have a service,
you could offer them an hour or half an
hour free or what about a product that you sell
for free. There is alot that you can offer them so
but make sure that it offers value to them.

Your subscribers will return the favor by subscribing
if you offer a small token of appreciation.

Email management systems on the internet are not
hard to find and it is easy to find one that
suits your needs. They range from a simple system
for up to 100 subscribers to an all out e-commerce
system that supports everything from shopping carts
to mailing lists.

Most if not all of these system come with a monthly
fee, so if you are starting out you may not need an
expensive e-commerce system.

If you are an established business blogger and don't
have email management program you are missing out on
the opportunity of reaching more readers. Don't wait
any longer get an email management system and boost
your business instantly.

Your Main Focus In Your Blog Is Your Target Market

It is very important to focus on your
target market when you have a business
blog. This target market is your potiential
customers for your business. These potential
buyers are your bread and butter so focusing
you blog to them is essential.

Naming a blog for you business should be
carefully considered before setting it up.
Should it be named after your business (i.e.
Jim's Healthcare Products Blog)?

This will depend on the business you are
running you also don't want the name of the
blog too cheesy or too long that people don't
remember it so choose wisely.

If you sell a certain product, say diet products
then you could go for something catchy like,
lose weight with Wade, or something like that.

Incorporate these words into the title of your
blog. Another focusing method for you business
blog is to pick topics that your target market
is interested in.

When readers arrive at your blog they are looking
for information about the services and products you
offer so only post relevent information to your
target market.

This is a sure way to get them coming back every time.

Make sure what that the advertising on your blog is
relevent to the business you are in. You arent going
to make any sales if you are advertising video games
and you are selling diet products.

Your readers will come to the conclusion that you are
not trying to help them and just want to make money off
them. The main goal of your business blog is to help
them.

Consistency is the Key to Blogging

When creating your business blog, consistency is the key to
keeping readers coming back time and again. Your readers
will come to know you by your brand, your writing style and
even the colors and fonts you use. Therefore, maintaining
consistency throughout your blog is something you want to
make a practice of.

This FREE ebook The Business Bloggers Manual will get you off on the right footing when starting you new business blog.

Before creating your blog, if you haven't done so already,
think about what colors and font styles you are going to use.
You want your business blog to flow with your business
website, so using colors and styles from there would be your
best option.

If you don't have a website for your business, then use
colors and styles in your logo or from something that
customers will recognize as your business. Also, if you have
a logo for your business, be sure to use it on your business
blog.

If you already have a business blog up and running, but feel
it is "noisy" or there are too many colors and font choices,
choose 2 to 3 colors to use throughout and then choose only
one or two font styles at the most. Having too many colors
and fonts can appear cluttered and your readers will soon
lose interest because they will feel overwhelmed by all the
busy-ness.

Consistency is not only in the appearance of your blog, but
in the content as well. When you are creating posts for your
business blog, they need to be geared toward your products,
services and your business. Your writing style should always
be consistent.

It's okay to put some personal flair in your posts, but the
main content should be professional. If you use a ghostwriter
to write your blog content, be sure to use only one or two,
otherwise you may end up with too many writing styles and
your readers may pick up on the fact you use ghostwriters.

There is nothing wrong with using a ghostwriter, just be sure
they are consistent and produce the kind of content you would
if you were actually doing the writing.

When you are consistent on your business blog, your
customers will come to trust you because consistency shows
reliability and when your readers know they can rely on you,
they will buy from you.
